ABT Power Upgrades Now Also Available in the United States

Good news for North American ABT clients: Starting August 1st 2018 ABT will be offering a selection of their highly sought-after power upgrades in the US! In the beginning the technologically advanced and extensively tested separate performance ECU (engine control unit) will be available for the current model Audi S4/S5, Audi SQ5 and Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI. A power upgrade for the 2018 Audi RS5 is exclusively available for customers when ordering the limited edition ABT RS5-R package. ABT is also providing an optional power train warranty at an additional cost. In the upcoming months, other power upgrades will be added to the portfolio for the United States as well.

As the world’s largest aftermarket tuning company for cars from Audi and VW, ABT knows very well how a technically feasible and perfectly functioning power increase should look like: By using state-of-the-art technology to add horsepower but also ensure reliability and durability as well as keeping fuel consumption and emissions at production level.

With the separate ABT Engine Control (AEC) unit a whole range of quality characteristics and USPs come into play. These set ABT power upgrades apart from risky cheap products that just modify the original ECU as well as from serious competitors.

Special features of power increases with the ABT Engine Control

  • Hardware protection
The separate ABT Engine Control is mounted non-destructively and has a range of safety features. This means the original ECU or the wiring are not affected. In addition, problems are avoided through CAN-bus integration, a splash-proof housing with GoreTex® membrane for ventilation, a defined installation position and the sturdy stainless steel mounting system. Furthermore, ABT also carries out testing for electromagnetic compatibility and the resistance against thermal shock and salt spray.
  • 3D optimization
ABT uses a three-dimensional characteristics grid over engine load and speed rather than the often used two-dimensional characteristic curve over speed only. The change in sensor values is only active on full load and in areas near full load which ensures there is less strain on engine and components and the turbocharger is not constantly working at its pump limit in the lower load range.
  • Protection mechanisms
The AEC retains the protection measures of the standard control unit instead of cancelling them out and even introduces additional vehicle specific component measures. This means less load on the engine, so the additional power is only available if the engine is neither too cold nor too hot. The charge air temperature is monitored and the fuel rail pressure is limited to protect the injection components. Additionally, the power is reduced to protect the turbocharger above a vehicle specific level.

Our Warranty

All our ABT parts come with a warranty of 4 years or 100,000 miles. Installing parts like aerodynamics or wheels will not void the factory warranty of the car.
