The Audi Revolut F1 Team heads to Brazil this weekend for the final race of the Americas triple-header, looking to continue its recent points-scoring momentum. But this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix will be particularly special for Gabriel Bortoleto, who will have the opportunity to race in front of his home crowd at Interlagos.
Audi currently sits on 27 championship points, just four points away from seventh place in the standings. With the midfield battle remaining incredibly competitive, every point matters. And as Formula 1 fans know, Interlagos has a reputation for producing unpredictable races, thanks to its challenging layout, overtaking opportunities, and frequently changing weather conditions.
The team arrives in Brazil following a mixed weekend in Mexico. Bortoleto recovered from limited practice running to finish in the points, while Nico Hülkenberg was in contention for a points finish before a red flag complicated his race. “Mexico was a challenging weekend for the team, and we felt there was more we could have done, especially as Nico was in contention for points until the red flag,” said Audi Racing Director Allan McNish.
For Bortoleto, however, the Brazilian Grand Prix is about more than championship points. “Racing in Brazil is always going to be very special for me,” Bortoleto said. “Last year was my first experience of driving in front of my home crowd, and the support I received was incredible.”
There will also be another opportunity for young driver Freddie Slater to gain Formula 1 experience. Following his first outing in Mexico City, Slater will return to the Audi R26 for the opening practice session, replacing Hülkenberg.
Audi is also celebrating the Brazilian weekend with special activities, including the Sampa Soul Collection developed with adidas and a limited-edition São Paulo Revolut card design.
But the primary objective remains unchanged, score more championship points.
With seventh place within striking distance and Bortoleto enjoying the support of his home crowd, Audi has plenty of motivation heading into Interlagos. The challenge will be turning that enthusiasm into results on one of Formula 1’s most unpredictable circuits.
