Find of the Day: Three Trips Up Pikes Peak, and This Audi TT RS Isn’t Done Yet

2012 Audi TTRS race car

Most used cars with 60,000 miles on the odometer have spent their lives commuting to work, running errands, and occasionally enjoying a spirited drive on a twisty back road. This 2012 Audi TT RS has apparently lived a much more exciting life. It’s competed in the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb three years in a row, and now it can be yours for the asking price of $60,000.

Of course, $60,000 is a substantial amount of money for a 14-year-old TT RS with 60,000 miles. But this is hardly your typical used Audi. According to the seller, Josh Tenge, the car has undergone extensive modifications to prepare it for competition at one of the most demanding motorsport events in the world.

Pikes Peak isn’t your average Sunday drive. The 12.42-mile course features 156 turns and climbs to an elevation of 14,115 feet. There are no forgiving gravel traps or tire barriers waiting to catch you if things go wrong. It’s a place where both driver and machine are pushed to their limits.

Fortunately, this TT RS has already proven it can handle the challenge. Despite its extensive modifications, the car reportedly retains its factory engine and turbocharger. However, output has been increased to a claimed 425 horsepower and a whopping 528 lb-ft of torque. It also features an onboard fire suppression system, air jacks, and numerous other racing upgrades.

The seller describes the Audi as a turnkey race car that runs great, has no mechanical issues, and needs nothing to return to Pikes Peak next year. Everything reportedly works as intended, and the car is said to be ready for technical inspection and competition. Prospective buyers should also know that test drives require proof of funds.

You can buy a 2012 TT RS for less money but it won’t have this level of performance and pedigree. Building a race car from scratch isn’t exactly a budget-friendly exercise. Here, you’re getting a machine with three trips up America’s most famous mountain already under its belt. All that’s missing is someone willing to take it up for a fourth.
