Find of the Day: 1991 Audi 200 20V Turbo Quattro Avant 5-Speed
Last October we featured a 1991 Audi 200 20V Turbo Quattro in our Find of the Day section. It was one of just 350 that were brought into the U.S. Now we have the even rarer 1991 Audi 200 20V Turbo Quattro Avant. Only about 150 of these beauties made it to America and one of them is for sale right now on Bring a Trailer.
For just one model year, Audi sent approximately 150 of these turbocharged, flared-fender wagons to the U.S. market. It was a “parts bin” masterpiece that combined the sleek C3 chassis with the legendary 3B 20-valve inline-five engine, the heart of a rally champion. Today, finding one that hasn’t been lost to the elements is a challenge. Finding one with these specific enthusiast-minded upgrades? That’s an opportunity.
Car Details
The C3 body was a revolution in its day, boasting a slippery 0.30 drag coefficient. But the 20V is the one you want; it’s visually distinguished by its factory flared wheel arches, giving it a purposeful stance that the standard 100/200 models lacked. This example is finished in classic White over Black leather and looks every bit the part of a high-speed Autobahn cruiser.
Under the hood sits the 2.2L 20V turbo engine, originally rated at 217 horsepower. This one breathes through an aftermarket exhaust system, letting that iconic five-cylinder “warble” truly sing.
Power is managed by the correct five-speed manual transaxle and Audi’s legendary Quattro system, featuring a Torsen center differential and the enthusiast-favorite push-button locking rear differential, a tactile reminder of Audi’s mechanical grit.
The notorious factory internal-caliper “UFO” rotors have been converted to a conventional setup, making maintenance and performance far more accessible. The interior features heated and power-adjustable sport seats sourced from a newer C4-platform Audi, offering significantly better bolsters for spirited driving. It currently sits on 16-inch Antera wheels, but the sale includes a coveted set of 15-inch BBS RG forged wheels, plus a spare instrument cluster and steering wheel.
While the Carfax notes a mileage inconsistency from 2016, the history remains accident-free. Having spent time in Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and California, this Avant has been a companion for the long haul.
Bidding ends on Wednesday, April 15. This would be a great way to spend that tax refund.
