Audi Promises Radical New Design to Stand Out From Competition

Looks matter. At least they do for Audi buyers. These aren’t our words, but the words of Audi board member Marco Schubert. CarExpert recently spoke to Schubert at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix and he told them, “For us, design is still the major reason why customers are buying our cars.”

As we have reported before, the Audi Concept C is going to set the future design language at Audi. Schubert refers to the Concept C design as the ‘Radical Next’ design. “That’s the first car we will have with what we call ‘Radical Next’ design – ‘Radical Next’ is the working title, more or less – but it’s really like a big step against what we have done previously,” said Schubert.

Setting Audi Apart

He believes this new, simplified design is what will set Audi apart from the competition. “From the customer perspective, we had one major topic: simplification in terms of exterior design. So, it’s a really clear design, which really is outstanding, which is different against the competition,” Schubert explained.

Audi says the Audi TT once marked a major turning point for the brand, helping it attract younger buyers and inject more emotion into its lineup. That same philosophy is now guiding Audi’s next design era. Central to that identity is the company’s long-standing motto, Vorsprung durch Technik, which has defined the brand for more than four decades. Schubert says the new design direction will reflect that philosophy not only through exterior styling but also inside the cabin, where major changes are also planned.

Audi was once viewed as a technology-driven disruptor that appealed to younger enthusiasts looking for something different from traditional luxury brands. The company hopes to recapture that spirit with the new Audi Concept C. The concept marks the beginning of a broader transformation, with the new design philosophy gradually rolling out across upcoming models throughout the brand’s portfolio.
