The Audi Revolut F1 Team managed to score a couple of championship points in the opening round of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Now all eyes turn to round two in Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend. The Chinese Grand Prix will offer a new challenge for the team as it will feature the first Sprint race of the season.

Audi Driver Development Programme member Emma Felbermayr is kicking off her new racing campaign this weekend as F1 Academy returns to action in Shanghai. Representing the Audi Revolut F1 Team on the grid, the young Austrian begins her second season in the all-female championship with the goal of building on the strong results she achieved during her rookie year.

Team Reaction

Jonathan Wheatley, Team Principal of the Audi Revolut F1 Team, said the team’s points finish at the Australian Grand Prix was a strong reward for months of hard work, but also highlighted how much progress still needs to be made. A technical issue prevented Nico Hülkenberg from racing, though he remained fully engaged with the team while supporting Gabriel Bortoleto from the garage.

Wheatley emphasized that the project is still in its early stages, with the focus on learning from each race and closing the gap to the front of the grid. With the Chinese Grand Prix featuring a Sprint format, the team will have limited practice time and must maximize every lap.

Nico Hülkenberg said the quick turnaround between races is a positive, giving the team another chance to build momentum after Australian Grand Prix. While Melbourne ended in disappointment for him, he noted the team showed strong pace throughout the weekend. Looking ahead to the Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai International Circuit, Hülkenberg expects a different challenge with long straights and limited preparation due to the Sprint format. With only one practice session, he says the team must be ready from the first lap to stay competitive in the midfield.

Teammate Gabriel Bortoleto called the points finish in Melbourne an encouraging start for the Audi Revolut F1 Team, but emphasized there is still plenty to learn about the car. He believes the layout in Shanghai will feel more familiar after pre-season testing in Bahrain, which could help the team prepare quickly before Sprint qualifying.
