MTM Teases 800+ HP Audi RS 5 Performance Upgrade

The B10-generation Audi RS 5 was revealed less than two weeks ago and MTM Automotive is already promising a massive power boost. If the 630 horsepower that Audi delivers in the new RS 5 is just not enough for you, MTM is hoping that 800 horsepower will satisfy your need for speed.
The German company, MTM Automotive, is certainly no stranger to building fast Audis. At the end of last year, they revealed the Pangaea GT based on the current Audi RS 6 Avant. The Pangaea GT packs a Corvette ZR1-humbling 1,100 horsepower. According to a post on the MTM USA Instagram page, the target for the new RS 5 is a bit more reasonable at “just” 812 PS which is roughly 800 horsepower.
Just how does MTM plan to do this? Details are scarce at the moment. The Instagram post simply says “More info soon.” Our guess is that this power boost would be accomplished primarily via a software tune rather than any hardware upgrades.
The new RS 5 already got a healthy 186 horsepower boost over the outgoing model. However, the new model also picked up quite a bit of weight so the acceleration and top speed figures for the B10 RS 5 are not drastically improved over the far less powerful previous version. The MTM version should take care of that. Adding another 170 horsepower or so should be good for a couple of tenths of a second to 60 mph and in the quarter mile. We suspect that the car would pick up a few mph at the top end as well.
For now, it is all speculation. But we are excited to see that MTM jumped on the new RS 5 so quickly. The new Audi RS 5 seems like a complete package with all the technological advancements Audi packed into it. Now MTM is bringing more power to the people. If only they could get Audi to send us the Avant version, we would really be excited.
