Find of the Day: 1977 Audi Fox Project Car Is a Rare B1 Sedan Worth Saving
This 1977 Audi Fox sedan is probably one of the least valuable Audis we have ever featured in our Find of the Day series. However, owning a classic car is not about making money, it is about making memories. It is about style and an ownership experience that can’t be replicated by new cars. This 1977 Audi Fox sedan is begging to be saved, and it deserves to be saved. It survived a freaking tornado for goodness’ sake. It is listed on Bring a Trailer right now with no reserve. Are you tempted?
This simple B1 sedan has a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine connected to a 3-speed automatic transmission. It rolls on 13-inch wheels wrapped in 155/80 tires. Outright performance is not this car’s mission. You don’t even get quattro all-wheel drive, the whopping 78 horsepower all goes to the front wheels. And none of those 78 horses are available right now as the car hasn’t run since 2018.
Why You Want It
To make matters worse, the paint is bubbling and there are rust spots on the body. One of the rear wheels is seized, the dash is cracked, and the window cranks are broken. Top it all off with the fact that a tornado collapsed the storage facility it was in and that resulted in a significantly dented body. So, why would you want a car like this?
Because project cars are awesome. And obscure Audi model project cars are even better. This is a great, low-cost way to get into repairing a car and getting it back on the road. You can take it on yourself or make this a wonderful family-bonding type of project.
The sale does include several spare parts to get you started on your restoration journey. There is also plenty of vehicle literature and even some 1977 Missouri license plates.
These cars helped lay the groundwork for Audi in America. The heritage should not be forgotten. Do your part and help get a classic Audi back on the road. Bidding ends on Sunday, November 16.
