Bentley’s ‘Luxury Urban SUV’ EV Spotted Testing at Nürburgring
Bentley’s first electric vehicle has been spied testing at the Nürburgring. Known now as simply the ‘Luxury Urban SUV’ the new Bentley is expected to be closely related to the Porsche Cayenne EV and share VW Group’s PPE platform.
There is not yet much known about the new Bentley EV, although it is probably safe to guess that it is going to be expensive. The new EV will be an alternative to the Bentley Bentayga, although the EV model is expected to be slightly smaller than the combustion-powered Bentayga.
Even with heavy camouflage the Luxury Urban SUV is clearly a Bentley. One interesting feature that we can spot is that this test mule has traditional door handles instead of flush handles that are popular with other EVs.
There are no technical details available at this time. But with it being closely related to the Cayenne EV we can make some assumptions. For example, it would not be a surprise for the Bentley EV to offer wireless charging like the Porsche. The Bentley will also likely come with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration. Porsche uses an 800-volt architecture and can support peak charging rates as high as 400 kilowatts to charge the 108-kWh battery pack. Expect similar for the Bentley.
Porsche recently revealed that they are delaying several EV models, but the Cayenne EV is already so far along that we expect it to launch as planned. And it seems like Bentley is moving forward with their EV as well. If all goes to plan the official Luxury Urban SUV will be revealed in the middle of next year with sales beginning in the first half of 2027. So, you have some time to save your pennies if you want to be the first on your block with a Bentley EV.
