How Much Power Will Next Generation Audi RS 6 Avant Make and How Will It Make It?
[Source: Motor1]
There are a number of things that Audi fans are eagerly awaiting nowadays. The start of the 2026 Formula 1 season, the production version of the Concept C and of course the next generation RS 6 Avant. Motor1 recently shared what they think the new RS 6 Avant will be like. Let’s look at what they have to say.
The one thing that folks are most curious about when it comes to the next generation RS 6 Avant is how much power will it make and how will it make it? With 621 horsepower on tap in the current version, nobody is complaining about a lack of power. But more is always welcomed. Early last month when we shared spy photos of the new RS 6 Avant we said that we expect the new car to make between 650 and 725 horsepower. Motor1 is saying that the car could have as much as 730 horsepower, so that aligns with our thinking.

However, we differ on how the new RS 6 Avant will make the power. We think that the twin-turbo V8 is going to be replaced. The top model will likely be a plug-in hybrid V6. Motor1 believes the V8 will remain and be enhanced with hybrid technology. This is one case where we hope we are wrong. Not that the hybrid V6 would be bad, but given the choice, give us the V8.
One thing that we do know is that there will not be an all-electric version of the new RS 6 Avant. We saw the RS 6 Avant e-tron out testing, however, not long after we got word that Audi was cancelling the EV version because of a lack of demand.
As far as looks go, we have gotten plenty of good spy shots of the new car at this point. And the 2026 A6 sedan has been revealed already. So, expect the RS 6 Avant to be a more muscular wagon version. Expect the interior to also closely align with the 2026 A6 sedan. But the RS 6 Avant will have obvious sporty touches such as the trademark honeycomb stitching on more aggressively bolstered seats.
Hopefully by early next year all of our RS 6 Avant questions will be answered as that is when we expect Audi to formally reveal their newest super wagon.
