Audi Eyes Record 2 Million Annual Sales in Strategy Overhaul
[Source: Reuters]
When Audi revealed their Concept C in Milan this week, they promised that it was just the beginning of a bold new strategy. Now according to a report from Reuters, that strategy includes doubling sales in the United States and targeting a record 2 million in annual worldwide sales.
In 2024 Audi global sales decreased by 11.8 percent compared with the year before. And the company has never sold 2 million vehicles in one year. But these facts are not keeping Audi from setting some optimistic sales targets. At least unofficially. Audi has declined to comment on this future sales target.
U.S. Market Is Key
A person close to the matter provided a bit more detail around how Audi expects to reach 2 million in global annual sales, and the United States plays a key role. According to the information provided, Audi is looking to roughly double the current annual sales figures in the U.S. from about 200,000 to 400,000. Although no timeline was put on this goal.
The newly introduced tariffs present a challenge to Audi since they have no production facilities based in the U.S. However, it was reported earlier this year that Audi is considering exploring plans to build a U.S. factory. That could allow the company to reap several benefits besides just mitigating tariff pressure.
In addition to a potential U.S. factory Audi said about a month ago that while 2025 continues to be challenging, they are seeing some positive results from their new strategy. According to Audi CFO Jürgen Rittersberger, Audi is currently undertaking the biggest transformation in company history.
We hope that these optimistic sales targets become a reality. It would obviously be a benefit to Audi but also to Audi enthusiasts. If sales are up, that means Audi is building vehicles that we want to buy. And if Audi is profitable, they can put some of those profits into developing even more vehicles that we want to buy. This could be the beginning of an exciting time for Audi and its fans.
