Audi R8 LMS Teams Dominate Across Classes at Phillip Island

Audi delivered a commanding performance in Round 1 of the 2025 GT World Challenge Australia at Phillip Island, securing victories across both the Pro-Am and Am categories in a weekend that showcased the strength and resilience of its R8 LMS customer teams.

The headline moment came in Race 2, where Brad Schumacher piloted his Audi R8 LMS to a thrilling overall win. After a challenging Race 1, Schumacher capitalized on mid-race chaos and worsening weather to seize the lead in the final stint. Under intense pressure from Liam Talbot and driving on a wet track in the closing laps, Schumacher held his nerve to claim victory by less than a second — a masterclass in composure and racecraft.

Audi’s success wasn’t limited to the top class. In the Am Cup category, Renee Gracie stormed to a dominant win in her R8 LMS, outperforming her rivals by over 30 seconds. It marked her first class victory of the season and reinforced Audi’s competitive edge throughout the grid.

Earlier in the race, Alex Peroni had set the tone for Audi’s pace, putting the Team BRM car at the top in both pre-qualifying sessions and leading early in Race 2. Although penalties ultimately derailed their win chances, the team’s raw pace was a clear testament to the R8 LMS’s performance potential.
