Catch the First Humanoid Robot on Audi’s Production Line
Audi’s EV factory in China just got a futuristic upgrade—meet Walker S1, the humanoid robot now working alongside humans on the production line. Developed by UBTech Robotics, Walker S1 is the first humanoid robot ever used in Audi’s global and premium auto production lines, making history at the Audi-FAW New Energy Vehicle plant in Changchun.
Walker S1 is taking on critical tasks like quality inspections and detecting air-conditioning leaks, a job once considered a respiratory risk for human workers. Standing 172 cm tall and weighing 76 kg, the robot is designed for industrial environments, featuring lightning-fast visual recognition, millimeter-level accuracy, and the ability to carry up to 15 kg without losing balance. With adaptive motion control, it can navigate complex terrain and operate 24/7, making it a game-changer for Audi’s high-tech assembly line.

Audi-FAW and UBTech signed an agreement in 2023 to integrate humanoid robots into Audi’s smart factory strategy. Now, UBTech is ramping up production, planning to roll out between 500 and 1,000 Walker S series robots by the end of 2025. And Audi isn’t alone—automakers like BYD, Geely, and Foxconn have already adopted UBTech’s robots, seeing massive efficiency boosts and cost savings.
With AI-powered coordination and next-gen automation, Walker S1 isn’t just assembling cars—it’s assembling the future of manufacturing.
