Audi RS 5 Sedan Spied Testing in Northern Sweden
For those keeping track, it’s a bit of a bragging point that the upcoming RS 5 is expected to have 50% more cylinders than the Mercedes-AMG C63. Audi and Mercedes-Benz have been rivals for over 90 years, a rivalry set to intensify once Audi joins the F1 grid alongside Mercedes. And by then, the upcoming new C63 and new RS 5 will likely be on the road and ripe for comparison.

Right now, it’s believed that the RS 5 will use the next evolution of the 2.9-liter biturbo V6 found in the outgoing RS 5, though paired with hybrid tech. Power will likely be similar to the Merceds, but the Merc controversially switched to a 4-cylinder for the internal combustion part of its makeup. We can all guess how that will play in the hearts and minds of enthusiasts.

Anyway, we’ve seen the RS 5 sedan before, but want to show it and its pronounced exhaust pipes again here. Right now, it’s looking like the RS 5 Sedan will be the only version sold in North America. Audi is testing an Avant and it’s possible that could still come to North America, though it’s not consistent with what U.S. planners are telling American dealers, leading many to assume sedan will be the only variant on this side of the Atlantic.
