Find of the Day: Faux RS2 Coupe? Sort of…
Here’s an interesting car for small chassis Audi aficionados. In short, it’s a European market B4 Coupe that, upon first glance, looks like an RS2 Coupé… something Audi never officially built. That, in and of itself, is probably enough to win you any quattros and Coffee gathering, but it’s worth digging deeper to understand what you’re looking at.
Spoiler alert. It’s not an RS2 Coupé. Depending on who you ask, Audi may or may not have built one or two of them, but none are known to exist at this time so it’s safe to say they never happened… even if one may have. Whatever. There’s no RS2 Coupé that’s ever been attributed to the factory, though we’ve seen clones built to various degrees of authenticity and we’d argue this car qualifies.

Yes, you’ll note those bumpers aren’t RS2 bumpers. They appear to be S2 bumpers, but they’ve been color-matched silver (like RS2 bumpers would be) versus the matte black trim of the S2. Also, it’s not an S2. It is European market though, a MY1993 Coupé quattro though so built after Audi stopped producing the Coupé for the USA and benefitting from B4 facelift components such as hood and bumpers.
This is a Coupe quattro 2.8, meaning it has the same (more or less) normally-aspirated 2.8-liter V6 as 90 sedans would have here in the USA. While not as desirable as an S2 Coupé, that’s still a higher spec with luxuries like this car’s sport seats with ‘quattro’ script sport fabric. It’s also a manual transmission, which is desirable.

Even better for our North American members, this car has been imported to the USA already. It’s at EFI Motorsport in New Hampshire.
