2012 Frank Beddor Nationals Is NOW Rescheduled to August 9-12, 2012
Frank Beddor Nationals-August 9-12, 2012 (Registration)
Jump in and join Audi Club North America members for some serious fun August 9-12 as members and their families celebrate the Frank Beddor Nationals in beautiful Colorado Springs hosted by the Rocky Mountain Chapter.
What’s unique about this experience? For one, it’s a gathering of like-minded Audi enthusiasts that will share a spirit of adventure as they gather for the 90th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb—Race to the Clouds. Secondly, from mild to wild, Colorado Springs offers over 50 major attractions and another adventure just around the next mountain pass!
25th Anniversary Win for Röhrl
August 2012 will mark the twenty-five year anniversary win of one of the greatest rally drivers of all time—Walter Röhrl. Cool as a cuke, Röhrl piloted an Audi sport quattro S1 up the world’s highest highway in record time of 10:47.85 minutes. To commemorate the victory, ACNA members will gather round the starting line to watch as racers embrace the mighty mountain in their quest to clinch the victory.
World Rally Champion, Walter Rohrl
Since 1916, man and machine have driven up Pikes Peak with white-knuckles on race day. As the world’s highest altitude race, Pikes Peak International Hillclimb is the second oldest motorsports event in the USA. The race is gripping with a climb of 4,720 feet, 156 turns, and covering a distance of 12.42 miles. Although every corner in the race deserves full respect, the turn beside “Bottomless Pit” gets top billing. Fortunately, no one has ever missed that corner, which would result in a 6,000 foot drop. Engines and adrenalin will be revved to the max as drivers prepare to conquer the tortuous road and possible rapidly changing weather from sleet, hail, fog or blinding snow before finishing.
