The Audi Club North Atlantic Chapter, with sponsorship from Audi Stratham and Shell V-Power, is pleased to offer a hands-on car control clinic, for teens and parents alike, on Saturday, August 10, 2013 in the parking lot of New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) in Loudon New Hampshire.
Our car control clinic is a limited enrollment, family friendly driving event designed to provide participants with increased confidence through behind-the-wheel driving exercises incorporating real-world accident avoidance and defensive-driving techniques.
Participants will enjoy over 6 hours of classroom and behind-the-wheel driving instruction focused on understanding vehicle dynamics, anti-lock braking and traction control systems through a series of exercises performed in a safe and controlled environment. Designed for newly-licensed and/or timid drivers alike, experience what driver’s education cannot teach your teen driver.
Maybe you’re thinking: “My kid isn’t one of these hot heads that drives a hot rod at excessive speeds.” Even if you’re right, what happens when they are driving down the highway and the hot head with the hot rod passes them, loses control and then crashes right in front of them? Or something falls off the truck in front of them, or the car in the right lane has a blow-out and skids across the highway into their lane? We show them how to make rapid changes in direction without losing control. Our teen clinic will teach these new drivers about dealing with real life situations while driving their own cars. We do this by setting up exercises that allow them to induce and then control skids, learning how their car handles “at the limit”.
These skills are vital in daily driving. Older drivers may have built these skills through experience; newer drivers haven’t had the chance. The situations I described could happen any day on our public roads, and the consequences can be dire. The clinic lets them practice emergency maneuvers repeatedly, in a safe and controlled environment, with an instructor at their side.
If under 18, you must be accompanied by a licensed parent or guardian and they must remain present for the duration of the event.
-Each driver - or parent - is responsible for the condition of the car. It must be in good working order: no leaks, no cracked glass, good tires, good seat belts, and in good working condition. We will look over each car with you before the event.
-Be sure to fill your gas tank before you arrive at NHMS..
-Lunch is included for each driver and parent.
-The cost for this event is $75 / driver (under 21 or parent of under 21 driver). $100 for all others.
