The (World Famous!) Julian Drive
Sunday Sept 22, 2013
This year’s road to Julian presents a repeat of prior year's route, ending at a relaxing buffet lunch at the Pine Hills Lodge in the mountains just outside of Julian. The altimeter will read 4500 feet when we stop for lunch at Pine Hills Lodge. But WOW…. getting there we’ll get even higher. We’ll taste Rainbow, Rice and Couser Canyons and that’s just a warm-up. Suddenly there’s Lilac Road, and then we’ll climb S6 almost to Mt. Palomar, and sail down S7 with breathtaking views of Lake Henshaw.
Then we’re thrust onto the exhilarating Mesa Grande known to many car clubs for its series of hairpins turns. Finally we’ll be able to breathe as we cruise toward a buffet luncheon at the Pine Hills Lodge. At the Lodge, we’ll have time to visit with old friends and meet new ones, recounting our experiences along the road to Julian.

Buttonwillow Raceway Driver Education School - November 23-24, 2013
If you have never attended a track event, this would be the perfect time to see what the excitement is all about! It’s a safe, controlled environment that allows you to experience the performance aspects of your Audi. Don’t have an Audi, but still want to come out? No problem! This event is open to all makes and drivers who want to learn more about the car they drive.
And EXTRA! We're very pleased to announce that Dion von Moltke will join us for this weekend at Buttonwillow. For those of you that are race fans, you know that Dion is one of Audi’s top R-8 drivers, and his team won the GT class in the 2013 Grand-AM Rolex race at Daytona, making him the winner of 2 of America's 3 endurance races in a 12 month period. Dion also won his class in a Porsche GT3 at the Sebring 12 hours ALMS race in 2012. Dion has a number of other racing accomplishments, and you can read more about his racing experience at his website.
Throughout the weekend Dion will be available to ride with you in your car! This is an incredible opportunity for instructors, C and D drivers to get driving tips from a winning professional driver. Information about this aspect of the event is included at the registration website.
During the Saturday banquet, Dion will be offering us a captivating talk, and over the course of the weekend he'll be glad to talk to you one-on-one, sign autographs, and give out fan cards. Dion has raced for several different teams, so he can share stories about driving for Alex Job Racing, APR Motorsports, and Audi Sport, to name a few. He also has numerous other anecdotes about the life of a pro driver and if we get him in the right mood, he might even share his thoughts about Dr.Wolfgang Ulrich, the head of Audi Sport Racing Program worldwide. In addition to the talk, we'll be sure to allow for Q&A time at the end of the discussion.
On site check-in and tech inspections will start at 4PM Friday at the hotel, with a mandatory drivers’ meeting at 8PM. There will also be a first-timers’ meeting at 7PM which is a great opportunity to hear more about the event days ahead, ask questions, and get comfortable with the event schedule.
An event packet with more information, a tech inspection form, medical release etc will go out to registrants about two weeks before the event.
Cost is $450.00 for students; $175.00 for instructors, and includes the track time, lunches at the track, and the banquet dinner Saturday night, event shirt and other miscellaneous swag. Helmets will be available to rent for those who need one, but if you’re a first-timer, the helmet rental is on us! ACNA membership is required.
